Heeyoung Seo graduated from the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Angers, France, and is currently completing an MFA at Yonsei University. Since 2017, she has led Pauline Louise, a jewelry brand, and Pauline Louise Studio, which produces home decor items. Both projects are grounded in an exploration of form and material.

Jewelry takes on its full meaning only when worn. Interacting with the body’s movement, it continuously creates new shapes. Pearls and chains are seen as points and lines, much like a moving sketch. Through Pauline Louise, the aim is to create pieces that balance materials naturally, evolving with the body as they’re worn.

With Pauline Louise Studio, this experimentation extends to home decor. The focus is on transforming materials into visually expressive objects such as vases and shelves, which add narrative layers to a space and offer flexible ways to style interiors.

The vase series, for instance, plays with distorted perspectives of stacked pottery, creating a dynamic visual experience depending on the angle. These pieces, made from PLA, a plant-based eco-friendly material, merge traditional forms with modern, sustainable design.

Inspired by the growth of plants, the beadwork pieces are constructed like points forming lines that extend organically, evoking the movement of stems and leaves. Whether through modular shelves or vases, the designs aim to enrich spaces with texture and depth.
